Cinemix is a minidistribution of Linux designed for playing movies after
booting directly from a CD. It is designed to be used mainly on older PCs.
The only requirement is setting up BIOS to boot from CD. Its advantages
are simplicity, small size and ease of CD recording.
This description applies to english version of Cinemix.
Project guidelines:
- after booting from a CD computer starts playing movie automatically from CD
- everything must fit in 2.88 MB (the largest size of emulated floppy disk)
- system should be "invisible" on the CD
- CDs should be easy to record
- playlist and config files are not needed
- system should support common hardware
- support for common file formats and audio/video codecs
- hard drive and floppy drive are not necessary
Cinemix can be used when:
- you want to check another curiosity ;-)
- you want to see what else can Linux be used to :o)
- you don't have or want to install appropriate codec
- your hard drive has just broken down :->
- you've just put together a new computer and want to check if it fits for anything...
